Most Marco Island Rental homes have screen lanai areas to the rear of the property. These protect occupants from bugs and, in many cases enclose private heated pools, and/or hot tubs. Some homes are landlocked but many are situated on Marco’s 90 miles of inland canals. Many have private docks where you can moor rental boats/waverunners. If a house is said to be “indirect access” it means that there are bridges between it and the Gulf of Mexico. “Direct access” it means the canal has no bridges between it and the Gulf so it is suitable for large boats and sailboats. Houses whose rear lanai areas face south or west are the most desirable for sunset views and maximum sun, especially in winter when cooler winds tend to come from the north.
